i have 2 males and 3 females in a 5 gallon tank. i recently spotted a couple fry inside. There are 2 females that look fat, with their gravel spots very dark, so i dont know if either one or both of them gave birth, however once i spotted the fry i immediately bought a new 10 gallon tank and moved the males and the skinny female into the new tank. I now use the 5 gallon tank as a nursery and plan to move the females to the 10 gallon tank once they seem to be out of labor
However, once i moved the other fish, the 2 female began to act weird in the 5 gallon tank. They just stay behind the filter tube near the top of the water or they hide in the live aqua plants, hardly moving at all.
it has been about 48-60 hours since ive noticed the first batch of frys and i havent noticed any new fry They rarely eat despite me putting the fortified flakes infront of them. In the tank are only the 2 suspected females and the 2 fry left.
The tank has an internal temp of 76 degrees Fahrenheit.
is this normal behavior and why wont either of the pregnant females drop any more fry?!?
should i just keep my females in the 5 gallon tank a couple more days?
any suggestions or comments would be of great help!
thanks in advance!
